From the beginning - seminar: 17 men and women came to learn about how to raise and educate babies and toddlers about God and God's love through music, play and simple games

A Mini - Discipleship course for Refugees and friends (held in Farsi) took place over the weekend with 30 participants. A great opportunity to share about faith for new believers and encourage them through teaching and fellowship.

Our Celebrate the Nations Event brought many of our friends and refugees to the castle once again.

The Urban Mission-DTS is now in Hamburg and in Berlin for the second part of their lecture phase.

About 80 refugees and friends came to the castle for the Celebrate the Nations event. Most of them originally come from Syria, Iran and Afghanistan.

The women's seminar took place with about 110 ladies. Anne Schürenberg, the founder of 'Healing Rooms' in Augsburg spoke on the topic of "He heals broken hearts...!"

September 25, 2016
The Discipleship Training School - DTS with the Theme: Urban Missions has kicked off. 12 students will participate in the lecture phase (6 weeks in Hurlach and Hamburg) before the teams go on outreach at the end of the year. An exciting project in co-operation with YWAM Hamburg.


September 11, 2016
Castle Festival in Hurlach took place again during the European Heritage Days, drawing around 2000 people to its gates. There was much fun to be had and entertainment to be enjoyed. It all began with an ecumenical church service in the inner court of the castle. The new driveway, court and the parking spaces were inaugurated and blessed by the catholic as well as the evangelical pastor. Dancers in stunning costumes gave their performance, there was plenty of opportunities for kids to play, international foods and sooo much more.

August 5-7, 2016
The Football-Camp for boys and girls took place with 14 children participating, learning new skills and improving technique and in the end the kids formed small teams to play a tournament.


June 30, 2016

Our School for Biblical Studies as well as the School of Biblical Christian Worldview came to a close today. The participants graduated and were given their certificates during the celebration. Frank Bauer and the school leaders gave a word of encouragement to the students before we all came together for a meal. Both of these schools are scheduled to run again next year.

The Nations & Generations DTS, that started in January 2016 is over. Participants of the course shared about their experiences. The different outreach teams presented their outreaches to give guests an inside look and an idea of what they went through. Certificates were handed out and the school leader Sokol Hoxha reminded everyone of the great commission from the gospel of Matthew chapter 28. A fun party and feast was celebrated in the beautifully set castle garden.
Preparations for the upcoming Discipleship Training School in September have begun...



June 19, 2016
The new driveway with its parking spaces was inaugurated despite the rain. After a short speech the children performed a fun dance and song. Worship songs to give thanks to God were not missing. The creative prayer time was a highlight as everyone took a piece of chalk and decorated the court with pictures, words or bible verses. It was special to have students from all current schools present as they were able to follow the building process during the past few months. A larger inauguration is planned for the castle feast September 11, 2016.


May 8-10, 2016
A large part of our staff and some students joined the "DNA-Conference" in Bad Blankenburg (Thuringia) organised by YWAM Germany and Europe. Speakers were Darlene & Loren Cunningham, along with David Hamilton and others.

The School of Biblical Studies (SBCW) has begun and it will run until June 30, 2016

The topic of our Celebrate the Nations Event was Easter this time. About 80 refugees, friends and social workers joined us and had fun playing in the castle garden. Once again a great day for building relationships.

A team of participants from the current SBS as well as some staff members went to Calais (France) to support a refugee work on location.


March 7, 2016
The Discipleship Training School has left the castle for their one week outreach in four different German locations. The students returned Sunday from Munich, Würzburg, Reichenbach and Bad Blankenburg.

The “Catch the Wave” kids conference was held for YWAM children during the weekend. About 25 kids took part as well as some adults.

Catherine Fabiano was at the Hurlach castle to give a one day seminar about overcoming Trauma and grief. Around 100 people came for the day.

Another Candle-Light-Dinner was held in the Hurlach castle as a contribution for the MarriageWeek events in the region of Landsberg/Lech

Community day for all YWAM Hurlach staff - a celebration of thanksgiving with input by our guest speakers Jim and Judy Orred, a lovely dinner and a time of worship

Our monthly Celebrate the Nations event took place once again inviting social workers, volunteers, refugees and friends. We welcomed many familiar faces as well as newcomers - around 180 people altogether. The visit of our Hurlach mayor Herr Böhm and the district administrator Herr Eichinger made this time even more special. Both came to see what this day looks like, to speak a word to the guests and later on hand out the cup to the winning team of the Hurlach Olympic games.
The Olympic winter games made all come together, towers were build, snow skies were raced, cookies had to be eaten, lollies seperated using straws and more. Afterwards the seminar room was filled and John Philips shared about his home country India that we prayed for as well. Two young refugees took the chance to show off their beatboxing skills. After all the activities and action it was time for dinner. Some of our Indian staff prepared Indian chicken curry with the help of our visitors from Louisville. The next Celebrate the Nations is held February 6, 2016 in Augsburg.

Today we started our "Descipleship Training School" (DTS) which is running for the next six months. Our DTS-Team recieved the students at 6 pm with a dinner. This time our motto is: "Nations and Generations".


December 15, 2015
Shortly before Christmas a team of our staff members drove to Eastern Europe, to work with the organisation "Humedica". They helped and took care of arriving refugees in Miratovac (Serbia). Warm clothes, food and drinks were very appreciated with these temperatures.


December 12, 2015
Christmas was the theme for the last Celebrate the Nations event of this year. The olympic games took place and the courtyard was made into a nice gathering place later on where people could keep warm around the fire. The next event for refugees and social workers is January 23,2016.


November 21, 2015
The Hurlacher castle was once again meeting point for refugees, asylum seekers and social workers for 'Celebrate the Nations'. The country in focus was Brazil. Participants from the current School of Communication Foundations cooked for our guests, presented their home and traditions and of course there was Samba dancing in the foyer. The snow at the end of the day was a real highlight for our South American friends. Next 'Celebrate the Nations' event happens on December 12, 2015.

Sam Childers - aka Machine Gun Preacher - was the speaker at the castle evening tonight. He shared about his call and work as a preacher and missionary in Northern Uganda and South Sudan, where he fights to save children who are in desperate situations, feed many children in orphanages, educates them and gives back to the communities.

A beautiful springday made many of our friends leave their homes and visit the castle for another Celebrate the Nations day the Love@Work Team. This time Bavaria was in focus, which gave the castle team plenty of opportunity to dress up in Dirndl and Lederhosen. Games played were typical for Bavaria featuring beer mugs and pretzels. It is amazing how these games help with bonding between people of different nations. Everyone is full of laughter and occasionally emotions are running high, especially with a new game that was introduced, that demanded participation of all team members. Two true Bavarians shared about their home land.

Today our current 'Mercy & Compassion'-DTS has left the castle for their outreach in Eastern Europe.
- The outreach team wrote on their blog: "We are going on outreach to three amazing places: Bulgaria, Macedonia, and Greece, starting on April 3rd and coming back June 19th. - Our first destination will be Bulgaria! - Thank you for all the prayers and support!"

A record 34 nations were represented during the last Celebrate the Nations event here in the Hurlach castle. Around 140 people came for fellowship, games and yummy food. The games were a true highlight and were kicked off by a Haka - a war challenge dance performed by one of our base staff Renall from the Cook Islands. Some new games were introduced and much fun was had. Persian food was served and Neurus - Persian New Year - was celebrated with a lovely decoration. Our next Celebration will happen April 18, 2015.

We celebrated the 80th birthday of our longest serving YWAM staff on this base, Gitta Leuschner. A lovely lunch was followed by singing a selection of worship songs, that she translated into German during her time here. What a legacy! What a privilege to have such a beautiful woman of God, who is such a servant at heart and such an encouragment here.

The Celebrate the Nations did not take place in the Hurlach castle, but in Kaufbeuren. About 100 people attended and 40 of them were refugees from the area. Sri Lanka was the focus nation. There were games as usual and the cup for the winning team was handed over by the mayor of the town. It is wonderful to hear that other churches are interested in hosting a Celebrate the Nations event.

January 13-19, 2015

A mixed team drove to Sicily with the support of Humedica, to support the ministry of Tina and Francesco Iuzzolini in Ragusa. Part of the work practical to help with decorating the Open House and putting up shelves and a kitchen. The other time was used to visit several refugee camps and homes to hand out warm clothing and Christmas gifts for the little ones.
